Standard Eligibility Criteria For Tribal Positions
Employment eligibility criteria for most positions with the Bishop Paiute Tribe includes; Criminal Background Checks and Clearance, Valid Driver’s License and Insurability with the Bishop Paiute Tribe’s Insurance. Submit and pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screen. Additional requirements may apply to specific positions in accordance with applicable Laws, Regulations, and Funding Agency requirements and may include; Education Verification, Individual Credit Checks, TB Test, Physical Examinations, Fit-For-Duty Tests, etc. Employment Applications must be completed in full and submitted by the deadline date with appropriate documentation in order to be considered for the position.
Indian Preference: Native American Indian preference shall apply pursuant to the prevailing Bishop Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance and the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (24 U.S.C. 450, et seq,) 25 CFR 271.44 and other relevant laws.

The Housing Management Officer (HMO) manages the rental program and homeownership homes within the jurisdiction of the Community Development Department (CDD). Restoration Crew Swamper – $19.51 – $25.36 Hourly
A Swamper on the restoration crew acts as a vital support worker, performing manual labor in outdoor settings to remove biomass from the direct worksite. Swampers are often expected to pile biomass in preparation for burning, chipping, or other forms of removal while working in close coordination with their crew members to ensure the safe and efficient completion of tasks. This work is important to enhance the health of forests, meadows, riparian corridors, and watersheds, as well as to reduce brush and other biomass that can potentially fuel wildfires.

Tutor – $16.12-$23.05 Hourly (Part Time)
Under the supervision of the Tutor Coordinator, the Tutor will provide individualized and small groups assistance to the Native American students at the Bishop Indian Education Center (BIEC). Provide tutorial assistance to students in the areas of mathematics, English Language Arts (ELA), reading and other areas of study pertinent to the academic achievement of BIEC participants.

Advocates for Indian children, who are in the court system, i.e. protect their rights, assure that they are placed with biological and/or extended family or in an Indian foster home. Works with families to aid their reunification, attend court hearings, provide support, referrals, counseling, and assist clients in complying with Court and/or Child Welfare Services requirements.

Summer Enrichment Program Coordinator – $21.46-$27.89 Hourly
Under the supervision of the Education Director, the coordinator will coordinate and implement weekly activities, for the duration of the Summer Enrichment Program that will reinforce and augment cultural awareness and reinforce existing academic skills in the areas of math, science and English. The coordinator will provide tutorial assistance, classroom monitoring, clerical assistance and may perform custodial duties, as needed, to help the Bishop Indian Education Center effectively coordinate and conduct the Summer Enrichment Program. Other related duties may be assigned when deemed necessary by the Education Director.
