Standard Eligibility Criteria For Tribal Positions

Employment eligibility criteria for most positions with the Bishop Paiute Tribe includes; Criminal Background Checks and Clearance, Valid Driver’s License and Insurability with the Bishop Paiute Tribe’s Insurance. Submit and pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screen. Additional requirements may apply to specific positions in accordance with applicable Laws, Regulations, and Funding Agency requirements and may include; Education Verification, Individual Credit Checks, TB Test, Physical Examinations, Fit-For-Duty Tests, etc. Employment Applications must be completed in full and submitted by the deadline date with appropriate documentation in order to be considered for the position.

Indian Preference: Native American Indian preference shall apply pursuant to the prevailing Bishop Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance and the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (24 U.S.C. 450, et seq,) 25 CFR 271.44 and other relevant laws.

The Social Services Director is responsible for the strategic leadership, administration, and management of the Tribe’s social services program, including but not limited to the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), Relief After Violent Encounters (RAVE), Housing Program, and other culturally relevant support services. The Director ensures that programs operate in compliance with tribal, state, and federal regulations while maintaining a strong focus on cultural values, self-sufficiency, family preservation, and community wellness.

Under the supervision of the Sumer Enrichment Program Coordinator, the intern will provide tutorial assistance, classroom monitoring, clerical assistance and may preform custodial duties, as needed, to help the Bishop Indian Education Center effectively coordinate and conduct the Summer Enrichment Program. Other related duties may be assigned when deemed necessary by the Summer Enrichment Program Coordinator or Education Director.

The Float Clerk is responsible for performing multiple, receptionist, clerical and database entry duties that will be assigned on an as needed basis in the various Tribal Administration Departments. Social Services Program Coordinator- NE4- $21.46-$27.89 Hourly DOQ

The Social Services Program Coordinator will be responsible for administering federal funding for the delivery of various social services programs dependent on funding: LIHEAP, Child Care Development Fund (CCDF), BIA General Welfare Assistance Program, Emergency Shelter Program. The Program Coordinator is responsible for providing excellent customer service to clients and customers in need of assistance; for example, greeting clients, responding to questions, accepting applications, processing applications, tracking services, and reporting on the services provided by the Social Services Department. This will be accomplished by following the guidelines of each program, maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of all clients and program services, providing community outreach opportunities, preparing clear, concise, and accurate client/program financial and statistical reports, documents, or correspondence.

Under the supervision of the Education Director, the Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to Bishop Indian Education Center (BIEC) staff and Director. Gaming Agent NE5-$24.67 -$32.38 (Hourly) DOQ

Department: Bishop Paiute Gaming Commission (BPGC)

Under the direction of the Supervising Gaming Agent, the Gaming Agent reviews the activities of a licensed gaming facility. The BPGC Gaming Agent will monitor and oversee all aspects of gaming as it pertains to Regulatory Compliance to ensure that all Federal and Tribal Gaming Laws and Regulations are adhered to. Gaming Agent will observe and monitor Casino operations, all gaming and non-gaming areas throughout the shift to ensure all operations are in compliance with all aspects of operations. Protect all Tribal assets by ensuring the Gaming Facility is operating in compliance with the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, National Indian Gaming Commission Minimum Internal Control Standards, Tribal Compact, Bishop Paiute Gaming Ordinance, Bank Security Act, and the California Alcohol Beverage Control Rules and Regulations.

Department: Environmental Management Office (EMO)

The Hazardous Fuels Crew (HFR) Crew Member will work with crew cutting brush and trees with chainsaw, hauling brush to a chipper, and hauling chipped material to a designated site. Responsible for conducting training programs, organizing workshops and seminars, and designing materials that can effectively alleviate skill gaps and improve performance. This is a paid internship to obtain on-the-job skills and training as well as traditional knowledge and skills for young adults between 16 and 29 with career goals in the fields of natural and cultural resource management. Under the supervision of the Natural Resources Coordinator, primary duties will be to participate in exercises, field trips and workshops to obtain skills and explore career goals and pathways in the fields of natural and cultural resource management.

Tribal Police Chief E7- $90,511 -$126,886 (Salaried) DOQ

Under the direction of the Chief Operations Officer and/or Designee, the Tribal Police Chief serves as the executive leader of the Tribal Police Department and is responsible for the overall administration, supervision, and operational effectiveness of the department. The Police Chief ensures enforcement of applicable Tribal, Federal, and State laws, ordinances, and regulations; develops and implements departmental policies and procedures; maintains compliance with all legal and certification requirements; and promotes public safety while upholding Tribal sovereignty and community trust.

In this small rural community, the position functions as a working Chief. In addition to administrative and leadership responsibilities, the Police Chief actively participates in patrol, emergency response, investigations, and other direct law enforcement activities as necessary. The Chief maintains required certifications and continuing education while fostering a professional, community-oriented policing environment that reflects the values of the Bishop Paiute Tribe. This is an armed position.

Department: Education

Under the supervision of the Education Director, the Tutor Coordinator will coordinate and plan out the tutoring services between student participants and the Bishop Indian Education Center tutoring staff. This position will monitor student attendance and progress and keep steady and proficient communication between students, parents, administrators, and teachers. The Tutor Coordinator will also organize and implement tutoring activities between both students and parents.

Victim Outreach Coordinator – RAVE Program E1 $44,628 – $58,017 Annually DOQ

This Victim Outreach Coordinator will coordinate and maintain community outreach activities and collaborations. This position will be responsible for scheduling, planning and implementation of outreach activities, educational/cultural activities, and collaborations with internal and external departments and agencies to host support group sessions for victims of crime and their families. This position will support and assist the RAVE Staff to ensure victims receive effective and confidential services.
